I called on a Thursday for a bridal bouquet for my daughter's bridal portraits in Austin on Monday. They were fantastic! They were so fast to reply, so fast to gather the images and description of what we needed, and then helped us figure out logistically the best place to deliver it to us. I ordered the whimsical box for my son and daughter-in-law on the occasion of the birth of their first baby boy! They are big succulent fans and I thought the mix of white flowers, succulents and natural greenery was beautiful! I also asked for a blue ribbon for the baby boy! Mercedes took care of it all! We never heard back, but we did just that let you know of the changes we had to make because of damaged flowers.
After your review I called you and I still couldn’t reach you. Your daughter was kind enough to put is in contact. You explained you didn’t have a phone and that’s why you couldn’t possibly know about the changes.
You mentioned you wanted to give us 5 stars, but I get it three stars for being under the impression that we just changed your design without letting you know…but that’s not who we are! We truly try our very best to give every single client exactly what they want and expect.

Mercedes was AMAZING to work with! My family and I sent my mother and father in law an arrangement to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. I left comments on what I was looking for and Mercedes was quick to reach out and work together on what we had in mind.
The flowers were stunning and exactly as we discussed. She is incredibly talented and used a beautiful color scheme that was romantic and unique. On top of that, due to a miscommunication on my end about timing, her husband personally delivered the flowers hours after they had closed (on Father’s Day, nonetheless) so that the flowers wouldn’t have to sit out in the Texas heat.

As much as I appreciate the effort and attention to the bouquet, it wasn't well received. So, I've rated "disappointing".
The comment I received from the recipient was "mixed wedding bouquet". Not the direction I had communicated which was modern, clean and all over white. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to communicate that successfully.

Floral design in general is very predictable and likely based on the mass consumer's lack of imagination. Asrai Garden in Chicago is interesting as they think outside the box. I have yet to find that level of creativity in floral design in Austin.

We apologize for your disappointment. I used the exact flowers you and I discussed via email. The same color…all white. I wish you would have sent me a link or pictures to what you wanted/expected. I sent you many pictures of my work and style. Based on that I thought we were on the same designing page. I can most certainly create anything a customer wants including European style (I have many designs like that on our Instagram). I took the flowers you requested…adding peonies and cymbidiums for a more impressive look. My apologies again for the dissatisfaction on the finish product.

Great website and ease of ordering the day before delivery! Several very unique and beautiful floral options available. I asked for flowers to be delivered mid-morning (Fri-to an office) if possible & they arrived by 10:30am - perfect! Great communication with the delivery confirmation email. My only suggestion is that a photo of the finished arrangement be included in the delivery confirmation email, but after scanning arrangement pics on the website I'm confident that it was absolutely stunning - only wish I could've seen it! Mercedes takes the most beautiful pastel as well as some of the beautiful bold colors and blend them in in the signature vase and the combination is just so unique. They stand out. Most importantly they last for longer than most. I received my last delivery on March 19 last Friday for my birthday today is March 30 and they still just as beautiful almost 2 weeks later. Although my cousin loved the flowers that Mercedes delivered, they were NOT the vividly colored flowers in the photo, but rather flowers of more muted colors. Hello! Oh no! You were my very first order of 2021 and I was so very excited to design for someone turning 90! My most sincere apologies for not contacting you. “Her Favorite” does state orchid color will vary and there are several samples on the website of the design with different orchid colors. That’s the only flower color I changed in the design. Everything else was exactly like you saw on the picture on the website. I believe lighting is huge. I also know sometimes flowers come brighter than at other seasons. It can make a design look brighter or lighter. I’ve emailed you five pictures that I took and you can see it’s brightness:) That’s the great news! The bad news is you weren’t happy and you thought recipient received something you didn’t want. For your feelings, I am so sorry. I hope my pictures let you see again nothing was changed and I didn’t design a muted color pallet for your design. I used all the same exact flower varieties that are in the pictures on our website. Thank so much for sharing with me your concerns. I appreciate it all and please know I’m saddened by your dissatisfaction on the colors you saw via pictures from recipient.

Now the Peony kind of Love is an amazing design for an amazing and special occasion. "Overpriced" to some perhaps. Our prices match our customer service, quality of flowers and of course the labor/design/art of the piece. Our customers know that's what they are paying for, to show/express whatever it is they want to say from a far in a very special and unique way. Specially at this very difficult time.
Now, no way, not in a million years and not while I am alive~ will, I Mercedes C. Anderson EVER leave any design at a random gate for just anyone to take! I texted your recipient since there was a gate and I did not have a code to get in. Her front office was also closed due to Covid. I texted her, to see if she could meet me at the front office to hand deliver her amazing and one of my favorite designs, to which she replied (just like the text I sent you showing you our conversation),
" Yes just a minute." She sent her significant other to gather them from me and I had just placed them on a bench outside the closed front office because I am pregnant and can't come into contact with anyone. I also have a 5 year old and a husband I want to protect thus protecting myself and RECIPIENT by not directly handing anything to anyone. In this case the person she sent to meet me. I was 5 feet away from the design in my car~ NEVER planning to just leave. I was waiting...waited for 10 minutes. Once he was outside the gate I jumped out of the car and said, "Flowers for X." he said yes and I pointed to the bench. He picked them up and walked away with a smile. Again, no way would I just say bye bye flowers you are on your own. Furthermore you did receive several emails every step of the online ordering process stating - Design created- Out to delivery and Delivery made. I must disagree about the "bad follow through." No way:) Thank you for your trust and business, your 4 stars and for using us! I hope you see we are worth it as my response here is for YOU. You see I care way too much! Hope you change your mind about the bad sentiments and that you can see clearly I NEVER LEFT YOUR FLOWERS UNATTENDED.

Over-and-Beyond in creativity, uniqueness, customer service, and delivery. I couldn't hope for more! I deferred to the florist with "Designer's Choice," which can be risky in using a florist new to me. But my request was to not use carnations, stargazers or baby's breath as fillers -- to keep it unique. Florist texted me immediately after order with complete assurance that, in floral design, we were on the same page!! I couldn't be any more pleased! And the recipient of the flowers posted a picture to her Facebook for her friends to see -- so I was able to see them too! The flowers as well as the vase were absolutely gorgeous!

She did say that they were lovely. I hope the arrangement was not to petite since it was called Petite Designer's choice. I was told by a florist in Mass. that you were the best florist in Austin.

OK, you could certainly get an arrangement from the “vanilla”, brand-name florists in Austin. Or maybe, just maybe, you could decide to step up your game. If so, Mercedes Flowers is for for you. Unusual, beautiful arrangements. Definitely not the same old stuff that you see

The arrangement you sent my daughter-in-law did not look anything like the picture. It had yellow tulips and huge hydrangea. I don't believe I saw any roses, but there might have been some. She sent me a picture. I don't think we got $150 worth by a long shot. Won't use you again.

Not typically one to review, but after years of remarkable service, this is way overdue. My wife has lived in Austin for 25 years, orders flowers for clients and friends regularly, has likely used every, or almost every, local florist in town and has arrived at the point where she ONLY uses Mercedes.
So it follows that that is how I found 'em :). I'm not a flower guy. Like them. Just don't get the big deal. That said, I can absolutely tell the difference in quality and presentation when comparing arrangements from Mercedes to those from other shops. You pay a bit more, but the value added substantially outweighs the incremental cost.
Worth noting, too: multiple instances of some of the best customer I've ever experienced. More than once, when I've had a special request or short notice order, the owner has made it happen and then followed through with a phone call/text to give me an update or let me know that the job was complete.
And I know that it's entering the mainstream after Amazon began doing it with their package delivery, but I think Mercedes Flowers was one of the first small businesses to take a picture of the delivered arrangement and email/text it to you right as it arrived. Peace of mind knowing that/when it got there and exactly what it looks like. This business was ahead of the curve and it goes to demonstrate where the owner's head is at when it comes to customer service.
All in all, Mercedes Flowers sets the bar when it comes to a well-run, customer-centric family business. Keep it up, y'all, and thanks.
